MStar provides GPS solutions that address the space and cost constraints of the mobile devices, including cellular handset and portable navigation device (PND). The chipset comprises of a complete RF frontend, hosted and non-hosted navigation engine, and SW that is designed for easy integration with the mobile phone host processor. This not only allows for low-cost implementation of a GPS-equipped handset, but also offers flexibility in power management for such a device. The MStar GPS chipset also combines many novel proprietary features to provide high-sensitivity operation, to mitigate multipath effects in harsh environments and to minimize the impact of RF jamming.
For PND type of product, MStar offers an additional powerful host application processor to drive the GPS chipset. Customer can port own SW platform for application development and customization.
In addition to GPS, MStar is also a world leader in the dual-mode GPS/GLONASS chipset. Combination of the GPS/GLONASS solution with MStar Mobile Platform facilitates the development of mobile handsets that take full advantage of positioning with both US and Russian satellite navigation systems.
